Hifz course

Quran memorization for kids online, with steady daily revision

A calm hifz routine of new lesson, recent revision and long-term revision, taught one to one on Zoom by Ustadha Ayesha Azmat in 30-minute classes.

  • Daily sabaq, sabqi and manzil
  • Pace set for your child
  • Free 3-day trial class

How does hifz work for a young child?

Memorizing the Quran is done in small pieces, repeated often. A child does not need long hours. What helps is a short, regular routine that the whole family can keep, with a teacher who listens to each lesson and corrects it before it is memorized wrongly.

Hifz sits on top of correct reading. A child who already reads steadily, ideally with the basics of Tajweed, memorizes with fewer errors. If your child is not there yet, start with Quran reading with Tajweed and begin hifz when the teacher feels it is the right time.

What are sabaq, sabqi and manzil?

These three parts make up the traditional hifz routine, and each class follows them:

  • Sabaq is the new lesson, a few lines taught and recited to the teacher.
  • Sabqi is the recent revision, going over what was learned in the last days so it settles.
  • Manzil is the long-term revision, returning to older parts so that they are not lost.

Skipping revision is the most common reason children forget what they learned. For that reason the teacher gives revision as much attention as the new lesson.

What happens in a 30-minute hifz class?

The class is live and one to one on Zoom with Ustadha Ayesha Azmat. Your child recites the revision first, then the teacher introduces the new sabaq, shows the line on a slide, marks it with a digital pen and reads it with the child until it is clear. Mistakes are corrected gently, and good effort is met with positive reinforcement and reward stickers.

Between classes, your child repeats the sabaq at home. A parent who listens for a few minutes each day makes a real difference, especially for younger children.

More classes a week means more chances to recite and revise with the teacher. The 5 days a week plan at $99 per month is built for families who want daily hifz practice, and the 3 days a week plan at $65 per month suits a steadier pace. Every plan is private 30-minute classes, and the full list is on the pricing page.

Class times are booked around your family's time zone, and you can ask about weekend slots. If your family travels, classes can be rescheduled with notice.

What should I expect from the course?

Hifz progress varies a great deal between children. It depends on age, regularity and practice at home, and we do not promise a juz target or a completion date. After the free trial class, the teacher will describe a realistic pace and what daily practice your child will need, and you can decide whether to go ahead.

Questions about kids quran teacher in United States

What is the right age to start memorization?

There is no single right age. Some children begin with short surahs once they read steadily, while others wait until they are a little older. The teacher listens to your child in the trial class and tells you whether to begin hifz now or build reading first. Both choices are common and neither is a setback.

Can my child memorize Juz Amma with you?

Many families begin with the short surahs near the end of the Quran, and the teacher can plan sabaq that way if you wish. The exact order is agreed with you after the trial. We do not set a promised timeline, because the pace depends on your child and the practice done at home.

How much practice does my child need at home?

A short, regular session each day is better than a long one now and then. The teacher will explain how much time to set aside once she has heard your child recite. For younger children, a parent listening and repeating the lesson alongside them helps the routine hold.

What if my child forgets what was memorized?

Forgetting is normal, which is why sabqi and manzil are part of every routine. The teacher returns to earlier lessons, listens for weak spots and repeats them with the child. If revision is slipping, she will say so plainly and suggest how to fit it back into the week.
